What this will really cost

Four things decide what you actually pay. We would rather you knew all four now than discovered the fourth on arrival.

1. What each hospital quotes

Meridian Institute of Cardiac Sciences

Chennai, cost band A

₹3,40,000 – ₹4,65,000

About ৳ 489,600 – ৳ 669,600, last confirmed 14 Aug 2026

Rukmini Multispeciality Hospital

Hyderabad, cost band B

₹2,85,000 – ₹3,80,000

About ৳ 410,400 – ৳ 547,200, last confirmed 2 Aug 2026

These are indicative ranges our team keeps up to date with each hospital. They are not quotations. A quotation comes from the hospital itself, in writing, once it has seen the reports — that is the estimate you can ask for next.

2. What the package leaves out

At Meridian Institute of Cardiac Sciences, the figure above does not cover:

  • ICU beyond 2 days
  • Complications from existing conditions
  • Attendant accommodation

3. The trip, not just the operation

The stay in India for this operation is about 21 days, of which roughly 7 are in hospital. This is what the rest of it costs for two people, the patient and one attendant.

  • The treatmentThe hospital's indicative package for this operation₹3,40,000 – ₹4,65,000
  • Flights, return2 people₹28,000 – ₹1,04,000
  • Medical visa fee2 people₹3,000 – ₹14,000
  • Accommodation near the hospital14 nights outside hospital₹19,600 – ₹53,200
  • Food for the family21 days in India₹12,600 – ₹29,400
  • Local travel21 days in India₹5,250 – ₹18,900

₹4,08,450 – ₹6,84,500

About ৳ 588,170 – ৳ 985,680 for everything, at ৳ 1.4 to the rupee. Rates move, so treat the conversion as a guide.

Depends greatly on the country you fly from and how late you book. None of these amounts are paid to NHMT. You pay the hospital, the airline and the guest house directly.

4. Why a final bill can be higher

A package price assumes a straightforward case. If the patient has another condition alongside the main one — diabetes that is not controlled, a weak kidney, an infection — the treatment takes longer, intensive care may be needed for extra days, and the bill rises. This is the single commonest unpleasant surprise in medical travel, and it is not the hospital cheating you.

Two things protect you. Your reports go to the hospital before the estimate, so what we already know about the patient is priced in rather than discovered later. And we tell you, in writing, which parts of the price can move and by roughly how much.

In this case the reviewing doctor has already told us what is likely to move the figure: diabetes that is not well controlled, which can lengthen the stay in intensive care and slow the healing of the wound.

What NHMT costs you

Nothing on this platform is charged to you: not searching, not sending reports, not the doctor’s review, not asking for an estimate. No money is collected here at all — there is nowhere on NHMT to pay, and anyone asking you to pay NHMT is not us.

The estimate comes back from the hospital in writing, against these reports, and can be compared with the ₹3,40,000 to ₹4,65,000 range above.
